Ebook About
Innocent mistakes can have dire consequences. Pricilla Middleton only attended the Lemoore house party to keep her friend out of trouble. Now, her only chance to keep from becoming a gossip column headline is to sneak aboard her brother's ship and pretend she'd been visiting him instead of taking part in the debacle. Before she can speak to her brother, the ship sets sail, and the man in charge is not at all who she expects.Captain Tobias Prescott, son of an infamous war hero, has been assigned on a critical mission to deploy warships in St. Kitts for battle in New Orleans. Unfortunately, his orders require him to assume command of a friend's ship, and he must weigh anchor the instant the former captain is escorted down the gangplank. When they reach open waters, the last thing he expects is to find a woman hiding in the captain's cabin, yet his mission is too urgent to return her to England. The Middleton name has always brought Tobias trouble, and Pricilla is no exception. As the waters clear and the temperature warms, the danger escalates too. Yet Tobias discovers the intuitive and strong woman who struggles to hide her anxiety is nothing like her disloyal brother. He may lose the opportunity to help his country, but perhaps he can still save the woman who's rescued his heart.

Book The Captain's Quest (The Leeward Islands Series Book 4) Review :

Such a beautifully written book with a beautiful love story - and quite a bit of suspenseful drama! This is by far my favorite of the books in this series!Pricilla and Tobias are great characters - with strong attraction - even though they are such opposites.Maggie is an amazing addition to their growing relationship!Clean romance with some sparky kissing. No sex or bad language.Lots of depth and things that I didn't see coming! Love that!I also completely love the message of God's love and how Jesus looks after each and every one of His lambs! He knows us by name and is with us every moment - we are never alone! This book was well thought out - and well written.I highly recommend it!:-D
Possible Spoilers in this review. -- I have mixed feelings about this story. I really enjoyed their time on the island: that was the best part as they struggled with survival and learned the secrets the island holds.Their time aboard the Trade Winds was difficult to read. Is Priscilla mad? I would say so. She's driven to irrational behavior by her fears and the voices in her head. She was very young when she experienced a traumatic event and barely escaped an evil man. But I wonder why a brief traumatic encounter would so totally rule an intelligent young woman. I really didn't like her at this point in the story and I wasn't sympathetic despite her obvious pain. Seems to me she wallowed in it rather than manage her fears with any degree of maturity.Priscilla blatantly disobeyed Captain's orders again and again, putting herself in harm's way over and over. This was the main reason I lost sympathy with her. In modern times she would have been sent for counseling, but of course that wasn't an option in the Regency era. I was getting plenty sick of Priscilla by the time the big storm hit. Perhaps the Trade Winds part of the story dragged on longer than it should have. And the idea of her playing poker with the men night after night was so outrageous it nearly made me give up on the story. This was the REGENCY ERA: such a thing simply was not done by genteel young ladies. The better side of Priscilla's character begins to emerge after they "leave" the Trade Winds. But I think Captain Prescott was right to tell her that she should have handled her fears better: she could have sought the approval of her parents rather than act out with rash behaviors. On the other hand I can see that her parents did nothing to help her after her childhood trauma so perhaps she's not to blame since they pretty much abandoned her emotionally after that. The story doesn't explain that part at all: I don't understand her parents' reaction and it seems very odd. Why such extreme reactions from Priscilla and her parents when nothing bad actually happened? The child escaped!Priscilla's struggle while in prison is well written as she learns how to use faith and scripture to conquer her fears.I did notice errors in details and grammar. This author certainly has a creative imagination and a gift for writing but the story needs some refining IMO.Story is clean, no language, no sex other than kissing.
